Where it all began
COR UNUM MEAL CENTER
The Cor Unum Meal Center is a not-for-profit meal center located in Lawrence, MA.
For the past fifteen years the Cor Unum Meal Center has helped eliminate hunger in the community by providing free meals seven days a week to over three million people.
A sad reality is many of the youth served over the years are now adults, some with their own children, still experiencing hunger, relying on Cor Unum for meals. There is a cycle that needs to be broken.
How it all began
Cummings Foundation
In 2017 the Cor Unum Meal Center received a very generous grant of of $100,000 through the Cummings Foundation’s “$100K for 100” program. This grant has enabled Cor Unum to expand its scope to help eliminate some of the main causes of hunger in the community focusing on unemployment and education with an emphasis on at-risk-youth through a job training program.
The program is designed to address barriers facing youth by providing a supportive environment to help the youth find and maintain employment and develop life skills that will assist them in breaking the cycle of surviving adults to thriving as adults.
